The OBA will once again be fielding 2 teams, over and under 30’s for their annual encounter with Dover RFC at Crabble on 12th November.
The OBA fixture is now in its 9th year and is the only OBA rugby of the weekend following the ending of the OBA vs School game.
The over 30’s captained by Jim Whittington (Wellington, leaver in 92) will kick off at 1330hrs and the under 30’s captained by Steve Strong (Wolseley 03) at 1445hrs. There will be a minibus transporting players and supporters to and from the game running from outside the Britannia Pub, also running to the Ramada Hotel for those members attending the dinner after the game. The transport to the ground starts at about 12pm and will start leaving the rugby club from about 6-630pm.
Dick Catt (Marlborough 73) the Dover RFC Chairman has also arranged for curry for players and spectators after the match as well as an evening of karaoke and music running late into the night. There will also be a Hog roast (payable on the night) to accompany your ale!
As usual there will be the chance to catch up over a few beers during and after the games. This year along with the usual Post match trophy presentations, Andy Black (Wolseley 97) OBA Rugby Club President is going to say a few words about developments in the future direction of OBA rugby.
This really is an enjoyable and ever growing part of the OBA weekend and everyone is welcome so please pass this on to friends and fellow Old Boys that you may be in touch with and let’s get supporting the teams. For the first time ever both OBA teams lost in 2010, let’s help cheer them onto victory this year.

Dave,
Hope the day goes well – really thought I would be able to make it this year but alas the watchbill has me on duty – Mum and Dad are with Jools in Dubai so won’t be around either unfortunately. Hope the Christian Redman memorial plate continues – he would have just turned 40 and no doubt would have been naked at some point of the proceedings if he was still around!
Regards to all
Rufus
